Would you believe it - my great grandmother turns 100 this winter!  My family is blessed with good genes.  We tend to live a long time, although we’ve never had anyone who’s made it to 100.  As you can imagine, this is pretty special and we’ve decided on a big celebration after talking it over with Great Gran, as we call her.

You wouldn’t think she’s even 90 years old, to look at her.  She’s in good health except for some osteoarthritis, her hearing is good, and her mind is as sharp as ever.  We asked her what we should get for her 100th birthday, and she said she wanted to go swimming in the tropics!  Last year she went on a hot balloon trip, so we weren’t exactly astonished.  She loves to try new things.  So the family is going to travel to Fiji en masse.  After all, how often does a person turn 100?  Great Gran has always been a pillar of support for any one of us who needed her help, so we figure she deserves all the good things we can give her.  Besides, it’s not like she’s the only one who will enjoy the trip.

The Fiji resort has a range of accommodations to choose from, as well as a range of activities on offer.  We’ll be able to stay close together as a family, but in separate units.  The ocean will be a hop away, so Great Gran will be able to go swimming as much as she wants.
