Tattoos are something that people get in order to define something about themselves. They put this art on their bodies to tell the world, "this is a symbol that represents who I am or what I like or the things that I believe in". A tattoo is a permanent way of doing this but we do it on a smaller level in many different ways. I mean, just think about the information on your Facebook or LinkedIn profile and you can see that we tattoo ourselves in little ways all of the time.

It has become increasingly common to add a level of personalization to our technology. For example, whenever we print disks on our computers, we have the option of using CD printers or DVD printers to add a personalized look to the information on the disk. This CD labeler action is a small action but it’s something that we do to set our own disks apart from the usual blank disk that it could be.

We do the same thing when we add new images to the wallpaper of our computer screens and mobile phones or when we make new ringtones for our cell phones. We seem to be tattooing ourselves in small ways through technology all of the time today. The great thing about these tattoos is that we can always change our minds about them later on!
