My Leadership Position

Earning the designation of Eagle Scout is no easy task. Really, they don’t just give those things away. I know because as soon as I earned my Life Scout rank I set my eyes on that goal. I had heard that you could earn the rank in as little as six months, but my scout leader was quick to point out that this never happens.
Right away I was confronted with the fact that our elections were a long way off. How could I serve the required six months in a leadership position if no leadership positions were available? Just being involved in lots of scout activities was not enough. I needed a leadership position, and I needed it quick.
So I started searching around the various sites, looking at each scout website and found that I could fill the leadership position as a den chief. Honestly, I was not real excited about this idea at first. I guess I knew it was a needed role. I really just did not really want to go work with the younger cub scouts. Well truth be told, at actually turned out to be a lot of fun. And it was really rewarding the way that they all looked up to me.
