My Dog Will Eat Anything

It’s not an uncommon complaint, but it is a frustrating one – my dog eats just about anything. It started when I first brought him home as a puppy. On day one, he nibbled through a small corner of carpet in the living room. It was extremely cute at the time, but alas it was not cheap to have fixed. Two months later, he was eating through the Ethernet cables that were peeking out on the floor. Another two months later, he was jumping onto the counters and taking down the beer koozies and personalized koozies that had not been put away. He destroyed four of them – two of them mementos from college.

Today, he is slightly better as he has been taught that there will be harsh consequences for destroying things that do not belong to him, but he is still a dog and the occasional wedding koozie or newspaper gets mutilated when I go to the store without him or forget to latch the kitchen before I go to work in the morning. He’s one of the cutest, most loveable dogs you’ll ever see, but that’s only because he doesn’t eat your things like he does mine.
