Boy, I thought it was hard bringing a kid INTO this world!  I’m not even talking labor pains…I’m talking about all the preparation and all of the trappings.  Well let me tell you that that is nothing compared to the preparation and trappings of getting RID of the kid!

I’m into kid-off-to-college number two.  I remember from number one how I had to think of everything from the lamp he would need to a garbage can, bedding, even paper clips!  And I didn’t even have to send him off with dishes that first year because he was in the dorm. 

For number two (and number one) we’re considering a shared apartment in Lafayette, Colorado right outside of CU Boulder, so now I have to think of more than pots and pans:  a vacuum cleaner, a couch, and even a doormat!  All I used to have to think about was baby nursery bedding and cloth baby diapers.  Well, okay, there were bottles and pacifiers and butt creams, too.  But I have to still think about shots and education and security now all the same.  Well, at least when they’re gone I don’t have to worry about anyone waking me up in the middle of the night!
