My (Soon to Be) New iPhone!
Posted by swan480 on 06/10/09 in Shopping
I just got some good news tonight: I’ll be getting an iPhone!
My husband has a good friend who has a gadget fixation. He loves to buy the newest devices. That means that this summer, for the third year in a row, he’ll be getting the new iPhone.
How this relates is that every year, when he gets a new phone, he gives his old one to my husband — who promptly gives his old phone to me. I’ve upgraded to several Motorola phones in this manner, including a Razr that only lasted a month or two (flimsy thing) and the Krzr that I use currently.
This year, though, the “hand-me-down” I’ll be getting is hubby’s first generation iPhone, which he inherited from his friend last year. (I begged for last year’s model, but he’s not going for it — he wants it for himself!) I’ll miss my Krzr — which looks just like the one in this Motorola Krzr review — but there are SO many things about the iPhone that I am looking forward to.
I’ll probably start looking for iPhone accessories soon, such as my own charger, so that I’m ready when we make the exchange. I’m not quite as crazy as these people in the video below, though, who stood in line for the new iPhone two years ago. I’ll never go that far for an electronic device — I can wait until the initial craze wears off!

I’m desperate for a new iPhone! It’s like crack and I can’t get a fix because I have Verizon instead of AT&T. Not cool, phone companies. Seriously not cool. I wonder how long I have to wait.

I heard that the iPhone’s exclusive contract with AT&T in the US and Orange in the UK will be expiring inside of a year, possibly this fall. Can’t wait to get my hands on one!

I am so one of the Apple super geeks and I was totally waiting in line to get a new phone–I even switched providers to ATT to get the contract! I’d say that I’m ashamed of my geekdom but I’m pretty sure it’s why my husband married me!

I don’t get the iPhone craze. Yes, they’re awesome phones, but I just got a blackberry and I think this thing is absolutely astounding, and you don’t have to wait in crazy lines for it or have a certain sucky carrier.

I’m not that gaga for the iPhone, but I do really want an iPod touch because those things look awesome, if for no other reason than you can download songs on the go. How many times have I wanted to do that? A MILLION!

Motorola, as much as I want to love them, really does not make good quality phones. I’m surprised you’ve stuck with them as long as you have; I’m sure you’ll find even the old iPhone to be a much better model.

All hail unexpected inheritance! Hand me downs are the best, especially when they’re gently used rather than completely worn through. I hope your husband takes really good care of his phones!

I just can’t believe the number of apps that are available for the iphone. I mean, you can download full books, brand new books, and read them right in the palm of your hand. It’s absolutely incredible. Technology is headed in a really fascinating direction.

As far as accessories go, I’d stick with something pretty basic and clean. I tend to want to smack the girls that bedazzle their hardware (and probably don’t even know what a bedazzler was!). Don’t go too crazy!
