Christmas weddings are very special, because they incorporate the holiday spirit and make an already happy event even happier.  Michigan winter weddings are great at Christmastime, because the state is so beautiful in the snow!

There are all sorts of ways you can incorporate Christmas into your winter wedding’s theme.  Here are a few suggestions:

• Decorate with evergreen, holly, mistletoe, and other Christmas-y decorations
• Have the flowers be poinsettas instead of traditional wedding flowers
• Give out Christmas-themed favors, such as Christmas ornaments with the bride and groom’s names and the date of the wedding
• Play Christmas music

Of course, planning a Christmas wedding changes things in many ways.  Michigan outdoor weddings aren’t possible in the winter, for obvious reasons; and since outdoor weddings are so popular, that is a deterrent for many people.  Also, a winter wedding requires that the bride wear a different sort of dress, instead of the sleeveless wedding dresses are the style preferred by many brides.

Even with these drawbacks, I think Christmas weddings are beautiful — both in scenery and in what they stand for.  After all, love, joy, and generosity are the themes of the holiday season — perfect themes for celebrating a wedding!
