Styling Hair Extensions vs. Transplanted Hair

Wearing and styling temporary hair extensions is somewhat different than styling transplanted hair, primarily because a hair transplant usually uses your own hair, making it not all that different from styling your hair before the surgery.  Hair extensions, on the other hand, are temporary additions to your existing hair, made of someone else’s hair or even fake hair, and used to temporarily make your hair look fuller or longer.

There are two different styles of hair extensions — the clip in kinds, like in the video below, and the kinds that are attached right to your hair and lasts for a long time, perhaps months.  One of my best friends had single strand hair extensions for a little while, and she said she had to be very careful styling them, because they sometimes came out.  When they did come out, she had to try to save them, because they were so expensive — if she saved them, they could be used again another time.

The clip-in hair extensions shown in the video below are ultra temporary, worn by models or actresses for a shoot, and obviously can’t be brushed or styled very easily while on the person’s head.

Hair transplants or hair replacement is a very different type of thing, because it is an actual surgery used to relocate hair folicles to areas that are balding, usually on men.  Like hair extensions, hair replacement for men has become more popular as the technology has improved.

And now to have a little fun with hair extensions:
