It’s unfortunate, but many kids struggle with reading these days.  I have a lot of theories as to why, most of them involving too much TV and video games and too little quality instruction in public schools — but regardless of the why, the fact remains that you have to do something about it.

Reading problems can haunt a kid for the rest of their life.  Good reading skills are vital for success in almost every area of life.  College, in particular, requires tons of reading in order to do well.  And most of what we would consider "good" careers require solid reading and writing skills.
