Additional Business Costs Pay Off

Owning my own business had always been one of my big dreams. It’s not that I hate working for someone else or anything. I just wanted to have my own thing going on. Well after a lot of planning I opened up my own store which sells fitness equipment and nutritional supplements. And despite the crazy economy, business has been booming.

At first I just ran things through a cash register and I hand labeled items with price tags. The people I hired kept manual time cards. This worked well for a while, but as the business grew so did my inventory as well as my staffing. Suddenly doing everything manually wasn’t good enough anymore.

The first thing I did was to implement some new time & attendance software. I don’t think my employees were fudging on their timecards too much intentionally. However, I have already realized lower labor costs! I also left the hand labeling behind and instituted new asset tracking software. So now instead of punching a price into a cash register, my people use barcode scanners so everything is accounted for. The bottom line is that by spending some money on updated systems, I have increased my bottom line!
