Reading The Signs

Whether you are considering magnetic door signs, window decals, or magnetic car signs, there are a few basic rules to follow if you want your sign to give you maximum results. A pretty sign doesn’t always mean it’s a good sign. You can have a great logo and well-written copy, but if these elements aren’t arranged properly or are difficult to read, the sign is useless.

Get To The Point:  Keep your message as succinct as possible. Some of the best signs out there might only contain a logo, business name and a couple lines of contact information. If you’re designing a sign for a car or other vehicle, the less there is to read, the better. Remember, people only have a few seconds to view the sign on a vehicle as it goes by.

Contrast and Color: There is a fine balance between colors on a sign. Too much and the sign is cluttered and hard to read; too little, and no one bothers to look. Use enough contrast between colors to make it interesting and easy on the eyes.

Grab Some Attention: The whole purpose of a sign is to catch someone’s attention. You’re making a statement with your sign and you only have a few seconds to get your message across to the viewer. Signs that can be read, understood, and remembered all in one quick glance are the signs that will bring you business.
